Library Media Center
Library Media Specialist
The mission of the Brooklyn Middle School Library Media Center is to provide current, highly reviewed materials on curriculum-related subjects and topics of personal interests in print and non-print formats to students and staff members. The library media center strives to open up avenues of research where students can successfully seek information and ideas for their educational and recreational needs, to provide opportunities for instruction in research skills, information literacy, and media competency, and offer flexible scheduling for full class, small group, or individual instruction. The library media center seeks to ensure that our students acquire the necessary information literacy skills they will need to become active learners with skills and knowledge necessary to lead successful meaningful lives in the 21st century and to foster a life-long love of reading for pleasure.

Books and magazines may be checked out for a two week period. They may be renewed by library staff.
All books and magazines should be returned to the Book Drop. Materials that are left elsewhere in the library are not considered returned.
Overdue lists will go out to homeroom teachers on Mondays. Teachers are responsible for posting the weekly list and immediately sending to the library any student who has a question about the status of a book.
Students should renew or return overdue library books as soon as possible. If there is a problem they should inform the library staff.
If a student has a book which is overdue for more than a week they may lose their library borrowing privileges.
Students may be sent to the library to access computers if they have permission from their teacher and there is a computer available.
